Infantry Mentor, Indirect Fire Infantryman Level 3

Job Location: Africa - Monrovia, Liberia

Job Description:

Associate’s degree/Bachelor’s degree desired. Must have minimum 10 years prior active or reserve military experience in the US Army with positions of responsibility at the Company level or higher. Must have retired/separated honorably. Must be able to pass the standard APFT at time of hire. Must meet Army height and weight standards IAW AR 600-9. Must be able to teach effectively in various environments (classroom, field, etc.) presenting both standardized instruction and creative workshops. Must be physically fit and able to participate in field training. Be able to wear the appropriate Army uniforms and meet the grooming standards. Possess tactical and leadership skills gained from successful Company through Battalion level leadership or MOS equivalent experience. Know basic soldier and safety skills. Must pass periodic, unannounced, Government-administered drug screening tests. Must possess computer skills. Must be able to live/instruct in a field environment for extended periods during training exercises. Must possess a thorough knowledge of the Army organizational structure, mission objectives, functions, procedures, regulations and policies. Must possess a current US Passport and receive required immunizations prior to travel date. Must provide copy of DD 214.

Job Requirements:

Incumbent will plan, teach, mentor, and evaluate the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) soldiers who are assigned as an Indirect Fire Infantryman (MOS 11C) in a light infantry unit on all applicable military subject matter in accordance with appropriate US Army doctrine and/or policies. Knowledge of East European (Soviet/Warsaw Pact) 60mm and 81mm mortar systems desirable. Able to teach FDC procedures, plotting using GFF and board, laying a section, and declination/employment of an aiming circle are necessary skills. Significant experience as a supervisor of a mortar squad, FDC section, or platoon necessary. Assists in planning (to include fire planning), organizing, directing, training, coordinating, and reporting activities of mortar sections and squads. Provides tactical and technical guidance to unit commanders. Assists indirect fire units perform battle damage assessment. Advises on development of a platoon training plans and SOPs. Will assist, as necessary, other team members as units form and progress through training. Able to use a computer and Microsoft Office.
